Dedicating business for more than just profit

After reading some pretty inspiring stories in Richard Branson's new book 'Screw Business as Usual' which lots of great stories about businesses and entrepreneurs are changing how they innovate and create.

There were two responses from Sal Khan founder of the open source, education revolution the Khan Academy that have just stuck in my mind.

When asked by the San Francisco Chronicle why he has devoted his life to creating an educational system, driven by the power of the internet to give access to learning to all walks of life, he says

"For so little effort on my own part, I can empower an unlimited amount of people for all time. I can't imagine a better use of my time."

And when asked on his own website, what religion are you? His brilliant response was

"If you believe in trying to make the best of the finite years we have on this planet (while not making it worse for anyone else), think that pride and self righteousness are the cause of most conflict and negativity and are humbled by the vastness and mystery of the universe, then I am the same religion as you."

Wow, I hope I can bring a little of this to my decisions.
